Q. For school I have to write a paper on animal abuse. I can only pick one animal that's abused to write it on, though. Which animal would be the easiest to write about? Links and information would be helpful, thank you.

A. Try to think of a really cute animal, or one that looks really sad. I think the younger, the more attention they will attract. Try a puppy, a kitten, or something like that. Good luck! =)

What animal should my evil character turn into?
Q. In my story people can turn into a specific animal. I can't think of an animal the evil MC should turn into. The animals they turn into should reflect their personality. My character worships ice and death, he's just evil; no other way to put it. So what kind of animal should he turn into? PS His name is Skadi.

What animal will make less noise a rabbit or a guninea pig?
Q. I am not allowed to have pets in my dorm room however I will be getting a small animal as they never check rooms. Which animal in your opinion make less noise. I heard guinea pigs squeal and talk. Please don't post how irresponsible I am. I have lots of time and the animal would be out of it's cage alot. If someone does end up finding out then I have a place lined up that would take it.
Asked by doglover54 - Sat Oct 25 16:55:33 2008 - - 14 Answers - 1 Comments

A. I've had both and they are both pretty noisy. My guinea pigs were the worst for it, as they used to squeak whenever I was around. This is their way of asking for attention, food and just generally having a chat. As others have said, rabbits thump a lot. I'm in a similar position to you and I missed animals so much, so I got some more. I started out with a Syrian hamster, who obviously doesn't making a lot of noise in terms of talking but does when it comes to the climbing on her cage bars and running on her wheel. The thing about hamsters is they really can't be without a wheel, so there's no way around it. It's cruel to keep them without one. Then there's my gerbils who are very quiet. They live in a tank, so there is no noise from them… [cont.]

A. Answers for questions 1 and 2: An animal scientist is anyone who studies a type or types of animals. It is a very wide, open field that can cover everything from genetics to ecology to behavior and it covers any animal that the scientist wishes to study. Usually an animal scientist will focus on a certain group of animals and a certain topic within that field. Answers for questions 3 and 4: A veterinary technician is specifically trained to assist a veterinarian in the care and treatment of animals. A veterinary technician focuses more on the care of many types of animals rather that just one or two. That being said, vet techs and animal scientists overlap. Yes, you can be a vet tech with a degree in animal science, however, there is a… [cont.]

What percentage of Animal testing is actually done for important medical purposes?
Q. I'm writing a personal essay about my opinions on animal testing, and I need to know roughly what percentage of animal testing/experimentation is actually done for medical purposes (such as testing drugs), and not for testing food, cosmetics, household products, or for doing research on animal behavior. Please & thank you. I'm asking because one source says only 6 percent, while the other sources are saying that the majority of animal testing is for medical purposes

A. Although your question is simple, I'm afraid it's impossible to answer. Firstly, which animals? Animal testing goes on all over the world. Secondly, how do you define "important" medical purposes? I've read that literally 12 million animals are annually tested upon and then "destroyed" by scientific, corporate, and even military organizations (see link to article). I myself avoid spending one thin dime of my hard earned money supporting companies that needlessly test on animals (like cosmetics, shampoos, toothpaste, fragrance, and the like). I never thought that I'd become one of these vegetarian, only buy at The Body Shop or LUSH for makeup, etc.--but guess what? It's a matter of conscience. Good luck with your inquiry--you're… [cont.]

How does animal cruelty affect education?
Q. I am doing a report on animal cruelty for history class and I need a few questions answered... How does animal cruelty affect education? How does animal cruelty affect politics? How does animal cruelty affect religion? Where do you think animal cruelty fits on the political scale? What is your worldview on animal cruelty? If you can answer any or all of these questions I would be very happy. Ask your friends what they think about animal cruelty, too! Thanks, Rebecca Campbell
Asked by Rebecca C - Wed Sep 5 19:42:24 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Not quite sure how to answer those questions... Well about the religious one...in some religions dogs were regarded as dirty so they were not treated so well..(I believe this is more true now in the Middle East section, maybe some Asian countries) In Asia, they eat dogs. And in some Asian countries they worship cows. Over here in the US we love our dogs like children and don't think twice about eating cows. We regard eating dogs as cruel, and the Asians think eating cows is cruel. Animal cruelty needs to be taken more seriously. I have spent much time watching Animal cops on Animal Planet, and they talk about how animal cruelty may soon be a felony rather than a misdeamoner. Animal abuse is often a starting place for people that later on… [cont.]

How can one work at the animal shelter?
Q. I've always wanted to work with animals, and an animal shelter seems like one of best places to work at! I would love to help spread the word for animals in dire need of homes, but what educational requirements are required to work in an animal shelter? Do I need to obtain some kind of license from the city or county to physically handle animals? Is a high school diploma or GED neccessary for consideration of employment?
Asked by Aesthetically Sound - Wed Oct 14 16:11:41 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Start by volunteering your time with an animal shelter. If you plan to make a career out of it, you can go back to school and get a vet Tech Degree. The animal shelters have good people working there already and they are always willing to bring in more and educate them as well. however the best thing to do is start by volunteering at any local animal shelter as they are always looking for people to help and will gladly take you. This way you are not spending a lot of money on continuing education just to find out caring for animals is not for you. There is always more to the care of a abandoned pet then most people think so it will be a great way to actually see if this is what you want to do with your life. Truthfully some people can… [cont.]

What animal is best use to build an ecosystem?
Q. I have to build and ecosystem and I want to know what animal is easier to use and what kind of food it eats. AFter building the ecosystem, I have to close it for a month to see if it works. I also want to know how the animal will obtain food, w/o me feeding it. Thanks.
Asked by 0117 - Sat Mar 1 13:29:31 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You will need plants to provide oxygen into the ecosystem and food for the animal. You will want an herbivore that eats slowly. Get a small animal (like aphids, which feed on plant fluid). Try getting a couple of large plants and many aphids, as well as some earthworms. If the plants are legumes, then everything should go well.

And we love animals with all our hearts and want to try and do something about it. Right now, we take in unwanted animals and free animals that people can't get rid of and turn around and sell them, then we know that once someone buys them at least they will have a good home and a good life. A. they don't go and search for human diseases in animals any more. They put the relevant genes for the disease into the animal (usually a mouse, but it might also be a fruit fly) if they are known or they test the effect of candidate genes. A lot of that work is done in cell cultures, but I have to tell you unless it is an immortalized cell culture a cell culture comes from an animal which may have to be killed to obtain the cells. So not all cell cultures keep an animal alive. I don't think your number is correct. Also it really depends what you want to look at. You cannot look at e.g. the effect of a proposed drug on the circulatory system in a cell culture. It is much easier to look for gene products or gene activation in a particular… [cont.]

What animal has the largest color spectrum?
Q. What animal has the widest range of visible colors? Including humans (even though I would not consider humans to be animals) @ James C- that does not answer the question, and some people due to their religious beliefs do not believe in evolution and therefore do not consider humans to be animals, just allow them to fall under the mammal classification. Please respond to the question only from now on!

A. If memory serves, it is the mantis shrimp. Many insects and birds can also see into the ultraviolet spectrum, which is invisible to us. By the way, mammals are a class within the animal kingdom, so if you acknowledge that humans are mammals, then you're acknowledging that they're animals. And, then, he fled the scene. But, alas, his bumper was left at the scene of the accident, with his license plate attached to it. So, they were able to quickly track down the culprit.
