Q. why were they unwilling to publish their theory

A. The impact theory was counter to most other theories that were accepted at the time. Radically different, so the journals really needed prodding to put it out there as a possibility. However, it was published in 1980 after sufficient peer review had been conducted that the journals felt safe that they weren't putting out crackpot idea. People like Darwin, Galileo, and Copernicus encountered similar problems.

A. There's a bit of quibbling about the date of the impact sometimes, and that's about it. Most researchers accept the impact as having been at least part of the cause.

A. I think that it depends on what you're looking for. If you want a short, quick read that leaves an impact, go for The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. It's easy in terms of vocabulary and length, but it's able to get a reaction. If you want Cervantes, he's the funny one. He wrote one of the funniest books of all time: Don Quixote of La Mancha. That's longer but if you want humor, go for it. As for Gabriel Marquez, I'm assuming that that's Gabriel Garcia Marquez: one of the masters of Spanish literature of all time. Really. Read Love in the Time of Cholera. That's for an epic, satisfying, and ultimately phenomenal read. So I'd recommend him, though if you want something to challenge your intellect, go for Hunger of Memory by… [cont.]

I DARE You to Date beryllium-10 from the KT Boundary!?
Q. So you are afraid of the establishment. When I suggested this experiment before I got the expected silly comments - now I challenge you to do the experiment and prove me wrong put your money where your mouth is! Walter Alvarez, an American geologist, working with other scientists looking for evidence that would later help to date when the dinosaurs became extinct at the end of the Cretaceous. He examined rocks of the mountains in Italy. He kept finding an unusual layer of clay that marked the boundary between the Cretaceous and Tertiary strata (the KT boundary). He found many marine fossils below the layer of clay, but few above. Why the reduction in marine fossils? What had caused this apparent mass extinction of many types of marine life… [cont.]

A. I am not familiar with the details of the Alvarez work and I'm not quite sure what your question is, but please allow me to point out some serious holes in your reasoning. 1. The isotope Be-10 is indeed radioactive but its half life is only 1.5 million years; hardly long enough to reliably date the K-T boundary at approximately 65.5 MYA. 2. The change in abundance of marine fossils at the K-T boundary can also be attributed to a facies change. 3. The half life of the radioisotope C-14 is only 5715 years, nowhere near long enough to date the vast majority of geological materials including the K-T clays 4. The clays which are so common at the K-T boundary in sedimentary environments which have been preserved are indeed highly anomalous… [cont.]

But once it doesnt work; you cant expect to run back to Luis and expect him to take you back . For all you know once you let go of Luis he's more than likely to move on and find someone new and then you're the one left with no one but a broken heart. you say Luis is the love of ur life...then why do u want to go back to an 8th grade crush? stay with the real thing hun Good luck

Cornell Glen opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, tallying on his home debut. But it was left to Alvarez to bring the house down 11 minutes later, with his blast from more than 25 yards cleanly beating Nick Rimando in the RSL goal. Why is a thin layer of clay unusual?
Q. Hi I am revising for a GCSE Exam. I need some help with the asteroid theory. Alvarez found a thin layer of clay which had a lot of soot in it. It was between layers of sedimentary rocks. I need to know why a thin layer of clay would be unusual? Thanks (This is what I am revising from:) The asteroid impact theory of the extinction of the dinosaurs started with research in Gubbio, Italy by geologist Walter Alvarez. Between the layers of sedimentary rock from the Cretaceous and Tertiary periods, he found a thin layer of clay which had a lot of soot in it. He wanted to know how long this clay layer took to form, so he asked the advice of his father Luis
