Active Fuels

Welcome to ActiveFuels.com! ActiveFuels.com is a highly categorized in-depth informational resource for all terms related to Active Fuels and Energy. About us.

Fuel is any material that stores energy that can later be extracted to perform mechanical work in a controlled manner. Most fuels used by humans undergo combustion, a redox reaction in which a combustible substance releases energy after it ignites and reacts with the oxygen in the air. Other processes used to convert fuel into energy include various other exothermic chemical reactions and nuclear reactions, such as nuclear fission or nuclear fusion. Fuels are also used in the cells of organisms in a process known as cellular respiration, where organic molecules are oxidized to release usable energy. Hydrocarbons are by far the most common source of fuel used by humans, but many other substances, such as radioactive metals, are currently used as well .

Science Homework- How is fuel "digested" in comparison to the digestion of food in the human body?
Q. How is fuel "digested" in comparison to the digestion of food in the human body? ^^ Science homework help?? Really stuck Dx

A. fuel is 'digested' by spontaneous combustion, lots of energy very quickly like burning something such as gasoline, it creates lots of heat. the human body slowly breaks down its fuel in cellular metabolism to prevent the cell from destroying itself.

Which is causing the price of food to go up,"alternative fuels", or excessive "fuel prices"?
Q. I am a "trucker". Diesel fuel used to be around a dollar a gallon, and freight rates were between 80 cents, to $1.50 per mile. NOW Diesel is OVER $4.00 a gallon. Freight rates, including a "fuel surcharge" is $2.00 per mile. My "Gross revenue" goes UP, but my "disposeable (taxable) income" keeps going down, EVERY year since 1999!!! The cost of living goes up, while my( and probably YOUR) net income goes down. What do you honestly think is raising OUR costs? Is it the production of "bio-fuels", or Oil Company GREED? The cost of oil goes up, THEIR "profits" get higher. They raise MY fuel cost, MY profits go lower. What's wrong with THIS picture?? Thank you for thinking about OUR… [cont.]

A. Hey, I'm a trucker too :). I think the rising price of food is due to many factors. Taking corn and grain that's supposed to feed animals and people, and using it to make fuel...has driven the price of corn, soybeans, etc...to RECORD highs. Farmers who raise livestock for dairy, eggs or meat have to buy this expensive grain to feed their animals. Higher feed expenses mean they must sell their animals or their dairy/eggs for higher prices. Most of the processed foods we eat have some sort of corn/grain byproduct in it- even if it's just high fructose corn syrup. Again, if corn is expensive, its byproducts will be as well. Then, you consider the high cost of fuel which raises the costs of shipping these foods to market. All of these expenses… [cont.]

While E85 is defined as an alternative fuel in the Energy Policy Act of 1992, it was excluded from a 45-CPG tax credit given to other alternative fuels to avoid "double-dipping" incentives while VEETC was still active .
