Fuel is any material that stores energy that can later be extracted to perform mechanical work in a controlled manner. Most fuels used by humans undergo combustion, a redox reaction in which a combustible substance releases energy after it ignites and reacts with the oxygen in the air. Other processes used to convert fuel into energy include various other exothermic chemical reactions and nuclear reactions, such as nuclear fission or nuclear fusion. Fuels are also used in the cells of organisms in a process known as cellular respiration, where organic molecules are oxidized to release usable energy. If you had everything custom made, anything is possible. Even if it was possible, you would have to spend the most ridiculous amount of money on it. Since a 86 350 would be carb'd, you could not shut off fuel and air flow to the individual cylinders. You need to have injectors in each cylinder and a way to block off the air flow. There is no vehicle made in 86 that I can think of worth dumping that much money into, making it fuel injected, getting a custom computer, etc. It can't be done with a carb though, unless you ran dual 2bbl carbs, and made it so one controlled the cylinders which you wanted to deactivate, and one control the other 4. Any type of aftermarket programming will void the 5 year, 100,000 mile powertrain warranty on your truck. That means that if you have any issues with the PCM, engine, transmission, transfer case, drivelines, differentials or axles, you will NOT be covered under warranty. Too risky. The first thing we check with ANY powertrain warranty concern is the programming tags in the PCM. If any one of the tags is a mismatch, the warranty is automatically voided. And there are ways of telling if an aftermarket program has been installed, even if returned to original specs. I would suggest leaving it alone, and keeping the warranty.
